A Challenge Thursday, May 31 2007

100_22831.jpg
I took a break from wedding cards to play with Stamping Princesses- Beate, Jenn, Sharon, and  Lori.   Lori sent us all a few stamped images by Anna Wight for Whipper Snapper Designs. They are the most darling birdies and as you know I love those birds! (A few posts back I told you where to find some of those feathered friends!) This was a fun little challenge using the birds and a few pieces of “Pocketful of Posies” background paper from DCWV. The paper is so pretty and glittery too!
I chose to use just a scalloped oval of the paper back behind my image which was stamped on Shimmery White (Lori’s Favorite)  and sponged on the edges with Lav Lace. I watercolored the bird and filled in the wings with my Clear Gelly Roll Stardust Pen which I finally ordered online from Scrapbook Creations. I hand drew the little lines on the scallop and punched tiny holes in the edges to give it a lacey look. This scallop is popped up onto a strip of shimmery white which has been cuttlebugged with the Swirl folder. A background of SU Bashful Blue stamped with Rhonna Farrer Swirls v.1 (TARGET- $9.99!!) and Snap Stamps “hey, tweetie” (DD’s suggestion for the greeting!) is then  mounted onto Black. At that point it was missing something so I pulled out my shoebox of lace and found this fine lace strip which is as old as the hills and tied a knot of it at each end of the strip. I mounted that onto Lavendar Lace and I was finally pleased with the result. What do you think?

They have Arrived! Wednesday, May 30 2007

The waiting game is over and the twins are here!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, they are there…in VA! I’ll be leaving on Saturday to go see them.
Brandon weighs 7 pounds 5 ounces and Faith weighs 5 pounds 9 ounces…I think. The cord was wrapped around Faith five times! That was something they did not expect so it was a good thing that a C-Section was planned.
Mommy and babies are doing very well. I can’t wait to see them!
God Bless~

Blog Challenge Tuesday, May 29 2007

Did you know I also have a weight loss blog? That blog is to journal my weight loss journey. This journey has been a serious venture for me for for over 6 years. Six years ago I weighed 217 pounds. From there I lost and gained and lost and gained…you get the picture. But I ended up losing 77 of those pounds. Here I am, however, starting to put them back on and I refuse to go there so I am exercising and TRYING to eat right. By my son’s wedding, I want to be back below 140.
Back to my blog……. I offer a weekly challenge and a prize to a random winner. Last week I had one girl take my challenge. She won a handmade weight loss journal.
If you’re trying to lose weight, I welcome you to check out my blog-

And take my challenge! What have YOU got to lose???

Waiting… Tuesday, May 29 2007

I’m playing the waiting game. I am waiting to hear that my new godson and goddaughter have arrived safe and sound and how BIG they are. I know they have to be big. They were 5.5 and 6.5 pounds almost 3 weeks ago. But they were content to stay inside their mama until the scheduled delivery day…today!!!!
Saturday my DD and I get on a plane to go see the little ones. I can’t wait.
Say a prayer for Peg as she is delivering right now!
Blessings~

A Winner! Monday, May 28 2007

It’s Jake’s B-Day! Happy Birthday, son!
And congratulations are in order for my blog candy winner. There were a few duplicates so instead of using the random number thingymabobber, I wrote all the names down and had my DD close her eyes and draw a name. She picked Chrystal S!
We didn’t make it to 50 comments this time, but I did add some ribbon and primas since I was in a good mood…. DH just bought me a new Pontiac Torrent and I LOVE it! Pics tomorrow after it goes back to get cleaned!
Happy Memorial day, friends!
Love~ Angel

It’s a GREAT Mail Day! Friday, May 25 2007

I told you I had won a bit of blog candy myself. Well, it came today. It was from Lori at Inking Aloud and man alive was it good! here is what I received:
Can I just tell you that the can had 8 of the Studio G sets that I hadn’t seen here at my Michael’s, a bottle of Stickles, some FUN ribbon and primas. And it was HER birthday we were celebrating. Can she throw a party or what?
I’m hoping she won’t mind that I borrowed her picture. My camera needs a charge.
I’m feeling really good today compared to yesterday’s migraine. I think I’m going to add to my own blog candy after I get back from Michaels and Hobby Lobby (which will be after hubby replaces the starter on our van! :-) )

If you’re like me and have never used a Stamp-a-majig then head over to see Trudee who has the how-to on her blog- Follow Your Bliss.

It’s now at the top of my list of “needs”.
Happy Memorial Day weekend! I’ll be back on Monday to draw a lucky name.

Cards for the Troops Thursday, May 24 2007

Do you know what Debbi is doing? She is collecting cards for our troops to send home to their loved ones. Yesterday I boxed up about 30 patriotic cards along with over 200 envelopes and sent them off to Debbi. Being a military wife, I know how extremely important it is for a soldier to stay in touch and connected to his or her family back home. I wish the best of luck to Debbi and others like her. God Bless!

Jake’s Card Thursday, May 24 2007

100_2265.jpg
You already know I love these papers by SEI. They’re from the “Grandpa’s Attic” line and I really need to go get some more. Paper is 50% off this week at Hobby Lobby, did ya know?
I decided to participate in the SCS Challenge after seeing Julia’s card-  http://bellepapier.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/
Would somebody teach me how to hyper link? LOL
This is Jake’s birthday card and it went out in yesterday’s mail along with his present.
There is absolutely no stamping on the card. I cuttlebugged the Birthday background and cut out one of the “Happy” sentiments from there. The astericks are also Cuttlebugged. A 1 1/4″ circle was scored and then added to the side of the small panel along with a screw head brad. The “Birthday” was just printed from my cheapie dymo labeler. It’s all pretty self-explanatory from there.

Blog Goodies!!! Wednesday, May 23 2007

Do you remember I gave out blog candy on my daughter’s 16th birthday on Friday the 13th (of April)? Well…. I thought it only fair to hand out more blog candy since my oldest son, Jake is turning 21 on Memorial Day! And also because I believe in paying it forward. I’ve won a couple of blog candies this week myself.
So…. I decided to raid my cupboards and drawers and see what I had enough of to share! Because THAT is my favorite kind of blog candy. A little of this and a little of that. (What is your favorite kind of blog candy?)
So, here is what the blog candy is…
An unopened pkg of SU White Fun Frames & Tags (these were discontinued in the 05 catty I believe)
A pkg of 12 white tea tags
A Metal Edged Tag
Two Jumbo paper clips
Six spiral clips (2 copper, 2 silver and 2 pewter)
1/4 SU Sponge
A few yards of neat fibers and WHITE twill tape
One dozen primas in neutral colors
and a small Whitman’s Sampler because after all, this is CANDY!
IF I can go over 50 comments on this post I will also add at least 5 more things I know you’ll like!
So, what do you need to do? Simply click Comment below and tell me something about you and something you’ve found on my blog. That could be a project you like or a recipe or just a tidbit about my family. I’ll draw a random entry from all of the comments on this post using the random thingymabobber on Jake’s birthday.
Have a great day!
